Direct Support Staff (Part-Time)

AFLH is a licensed Adult Residential Care Facility seeking dependable, compassionate, and professional Direct Support Staff (DSS) to support adult residents across our Columbus-area homes. This is a hands-on, people-first position. You will help maintain a structured, safe, and supportive home environment. Schedule & Locations Available Shifts • Morning Shift: 7:00 AM - 9:00 AM • Evening Shift: 7:00 PM - 9:00 PM Additional Details • Work one shift or both shifts based on your availability • Must be open to working across multiple AFLH locations on the east side of Columbus • Reliable transportation is required • Part-time hours with potential to grow into full-time as we expand Key Responsibilities Resident Support & Daily Living • Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) including personal hygiene, grooming, and dressing • Encourage resident independence while providing appropriate supervision and support • Maintain a respectful, professional, and calm environment at all times Medication Support • Assist residents with self-administration of medications at the correct time • Accurately complete medication logs and all required documentation Note: Staff do not independently administer medications Meal Preparation & Nutrition • Prepare light meals or assist residents with meal preparation • Maintain food safety and cleanliness standards Housekeeping & Home Maintenance • Maintain cleanliness of common areas, kitchen, and bathrooms • Assist with laundry and basic household organization • Ensure the home remains safe, clean, and inspection-ready at all times Documentation & Reporting • Complete daily shift notes and all required paperwork • Report any incidents, concerns, or changes in resident behavior to management • Maintain accurate records in compliance with AFLH and Ohio state requirements Transportation (If Assigned) • Transport residents to medical appointments, grocery stores, and community activities What You Need to Qualify Required • High School Diploma or GED • Valid Driver's License with a clean driving record • Reliable personal transportation • Ability to pass BCI Background Check, FBI Background Check, OIG Exclusion Check, and Medicaid Exclusion Check Preferred (Not Required) • Previous experience in group homes, behavioral health, or direct care settings • Active CPR and First Aid Certification Required Training The following training is provided or verified upon hire at no cost to you: • CPR & First Aid • HIPAA Compliance • Abuse & Neglect Reporting • Infection Control • Medication Administration (if applicable) • De-escalation / Crisis Intervention (CPI or equivalent) Compliance & Accountability AFLH operates in a fully licensed residential care setting. All staff are expected to: • Follow all AFLH policies and procedures without exception • Maintain resident confidentiality at all times • Report any suspected abuse, neglect, or safety concerns immediately • Complete all required documentation accurately and on time Failure to meet compliance standards may result in immediate termination.
