This recruitment is a General Promotional Opportunity and is limited to current Fresno County employees occupying a permanently allocated position who meet the minimum qualifications and filing requirements specified in this announcement; permanent status is not required. Extra-help employees are not eligible.
The Fresno County Sheriff's Office invites applications for the position of Community Service Officer. Incumbents perform a variety of law enforcement support work, security-related duties, and other related work for the Sheriff's Office. In addition, Community Service Officers may be assigned to serve as a Court Attendant to assist Sheriff Deputies in maintaining public security and general administrative support functions within the Court Services Unit.
APPLICANTS MUST BE WILLING TO WORK OVERTIME IF NECESSARY AND SHIFTS AS ASSIGNED INCLUDING NIGHTS, WEEKENDS AND HOLIDAYS.
As a condition of employment, candidates must undergo and pass a polygraph or Computer Voice Stress Analysis examination and a thorough background investigation (background materials for failed candidates are retained for three years). Background investigations include employment/credit histories, arrest/criminal records, drug/alcohol use, and personal conduct. This list is neither inclusive nor exclusive; other relevant areas may be investigated and verified.

Experience: One (1) year of full-time, paid public contact experience.
OR
Education: Completion of thirty (30) semester units of course work from an accredited college or university accepted within the United States college or university system.
License: Possession of a valid Class "C" California Driver's License.
Possession of a current First Aid/CPR Certificate must be obtained prior to the completion of the probationary period and maintained thereafter if assigned to function as a Court Attendant.

SELECTION PROCESS:
Pursuant to Fresno County Personnel Rule 4 - Selection Process, applicants may be required to complete an examination process and successful candidates will be placed on an employment list effective for a minimum of 3 months and certified in final rank order as vacancies occur.

This classification is in MEDICAL GROUP II - Moderate Physical Activity (Personnel Rule 8).
