Creates a sanitary, safe environment and enhances the appearance of the facility. Performs job functions primarily inpatient, discharge and surgical settings on a daily basis as assigned. This role may also include ancillary areas, exam rooms, offices, waiting areas, public restrooms, and other assigned areas in an outpatient non-surgical setting.

As an Environmental Services caregiver on our team, you will help create the comfortable and safe environment our patients have come to expect. This role is a steppingstone to other careers within Environmental Services (Team Lead, Supervisor and Manager) and departments within Cleveland Clinic.
Shift Schedules:
We offer flexible scheduling, including:
• Days: 7:00 AM–3:30 PM
• Afternoons/Evenings: 2:00 PM–10:30 PM
• Evenings/Nights: 3:00 PM–11:30 PM
• Late Evenings: 4:00 PM–12:30 AM
Weekend Availability:
• Must be able to work every other weekend (Saturday and Sunday).
Responsibilities:
• Perform daily cleaning of assigned areas, including but not limited to; dust mopping, mopping/scrubbing, vacuuming, gum removal, and buffing hard floor surfaces using various equipment.
• Complete waste stream removal, including the same transport and disposal of general waste, recycling, and infectious waste.
• Adhere to policies and procedures on patient isolation and all Environmental Services technical and procedural standard operating procedures.
• Follow and comply with hospital-wide and departmental safety requirements.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
Education:
• High School Diploma/General Education Development (GED) preferred.

• None required.
Complexity of Work:
• Requires attention to detail, ability to follow directions and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Ability to learn and follow departmental policies and procedures, various cleaning and patient hospitality techniques, proper use and storage of cleaning agents and chemicals.
• Ability to communicate in a clear, courteous and caring manner.
• Must be able to work in a fast-paced cleaning environment.
• Ability to be flexible with work assignments.
Work Experience:
• None required.
Physical Requirements:
• Requires full body motion, including ability to perform work while lifting, bending, stooping, crouching, squatting, and reaching.
• Requires continuous walking and standing on hard surfaces.
• Requires regular handling and use of disinfectants and other cleaning agents and chemicals.
• Light work – Exerting 11 to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
