Position: FOIA Assistant Location: Detroit, MI (On-Site) Duration: 7+ Months and Extendable Client: Wayne County Airport Authority Pay rate: $28/hr Description: Position – FOIA Assistant Estimated length of temporary assistance - upwards of 12 months Start Date: ASAP Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8am - 4:30pm, 1⁄2 hr unpaid lunch period Weekly Hours: 40 hours Experience/Qualifications Required: Ability to handle tight consistent deadlines. Exceptional organizational, case management, and time management skills. Analytical problem-solving skills. Excellent communication skills. Attention to detail. Maintaining the highest degree of confidentiality. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, and Power Point) Minimum 3 years of experience supporting senior-level management, project management, or work in a legal setting. Familiar with reading and interpreting legislative laws. Preferred: Knowledge and understanding of the Michigan Freedom of Information Act (FOIA). 1-year experience working with the FOIA. Knowledge of records retention. What type of job duties? • Receives, reviews, notifies appropriate management, determines regulatory response deadlines, and logs FOIA Requests. • Work within the organization to obtain records across several departments. • Process FOIA request – Recognizes and segregates various types of non-disclosure information contained within a wide range of Airport Authority records including the review of classified, personal, personnel, sensitive security, and confidential records in compliance with local and federal laws. • Work closely with the Deputy Director to keep them well informed of upcoming commitments and responsibilities, following up appropriately. • Processes subpoenas and discovery requests that require WCAA records. • Work with off-site storage facility to have files transferred to and from WCAA departments. • Researches and completes urgent and time sensitive projects, including trouble shooting and provide customer support. • Assists with Board meeting preparation and reset. • Will research legal cases as needed and/or assigned. • Maintain a working knowledge of mandatory Federal, State, and local laws and regulations in their area of expertise including but not limited to FOIA, SSI, HIPAA, LEIN. • Assists in the auditing of organizational records stored off-site. • Special projects as assigned. • Performs other similar and related duties as required or directed.
