Assistant Video Editor / On-Set Production Specialist

About the Role An established digital media company producing long-form interviews and high-volume online video content is seeking an Assistant Video Editor / On-Set Production Specialist to join our team. This hybrid position combines post-production quality control with hands-on production responsibilities in both studio and field environments. The ideal candidate is technically proficient, highly detail-oriented, and comfortable working in a fast-paced content production environment. This role offers the opportunity to gain experience across all stages of production, from camera, lighting, and audio setup to final quality control and content delivery. ResponsibilitiesOn-Set Production • Assist with setup and operation of multi-camera interview productions • Configure and adjust professional lighting equipment for consistent visual quality • Set up, monitor, and troubleshoot audio recording systems, including wireless lavaliers, boom microphones, and field mixers • Ensure proper framing, exposure, focus, and overall technical quality during productions • Assist with studio preparation, equipment organization, and production logistics • Troubleshoot technical issues quickly and effectively during shoots • Maintain and organize production equipment and accessories • Travel within the Los Angeles area as needed for productions Post-Production & Quality Control • Review completed video edits for technical accuracy and overall quality • Identify and report issues involving audio sync, graphics, captions, exports, visual artifacts, and editorial continuity • Verify content meets established technical and quality standards before publication • Assist with media management, file organization, backups, and project archiving • Collaborate with editors and producers to ensure content is delivered accurately and on schedule • Maintain consistency across published content and workflows Qualifications • 1–3 years of experience in video production, post-production, or a related field • Working knowledge of professional camera, lighting, and audio equipment • Familiarity with Adobe Premiere Pro • Strong understanding of video production workflows and best practices • Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to quality • Strong organizational and communication skills • Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines in a fast-paced environment • Self-motivated and capable of working independently when required • Reliable transportation and ability to travel to production locations throughout Los Angeles Preferred Qualifications • Experience working on interview, podcast, documentary, or digital content productions • Familiarity with Sony camera systems • Experience with media asset management and file organization workflows • Basic editing experience and understanding of post-production pipelines • Knowledge of YouTube and digital publishing workflows What We Offer • Hybrid work environment with a combination of remote and on-site responsibilities • Hands-on experience with professional production equipment and workflows • Opportunity to work with a well-established digital media brand reaching millions of viewers • Exposure to all aspects of content creation, from production through final delivery • Opportunities for professional growth and increased responsibility over time Additional Requirements • Must be available for occasional evening and weekend productions • Must be comfortable working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment • Must possess a strong sense of accountability and attention to detail • Ability to receive and implement feedback professionally and efficiently Location: Hybrid – Los Angeles, CA Employment Type: Full-Time Compensation: $50,000 – $55,000 annually (based on experience).
