Congregate Housing Cook & Server, Part-Time

About PDXNSPDX Nutrition Services is a private company that is contracted to serve meals to approximately 100 clients in four congregate housing buildings in central Portland through The Congregate Housing Services Program (CHSP). CHSP is designed to assist seniors and adults with disabilities to live independently in their own apartments. Funded by federal, state and county grants we are currently contracted to prepare and cook one hot meal, with minimal substitutions for dietary restrictions, for 80-100 people every day for either dinner service or delivery to our four locations. The program is meant to encourage clients to socialize over a meal and provides a way for us to conduct a daily wellness check on our clients. MUST be able to work weekends as we are currently hiring for Saturday and Sunday shifts 11:30am - 5:30pm. Possibility for more shifts in the near future. Job Description// This position splits its time between cooking the meal, serving our clients, and routine & deep cleaning the kitchen. // Shifts are from 11:30am - 5:30pm every day of the week. This shift involves preparing a meal at two of our locations. One meal is at 1pm the other at 4pm.// Staff should be comfortable preparing a pre-planned meal consisting of a main, side and fruit/vegetable for up to 20 people.// After the meal service, there are basic cleaning tasks including dishes, cleaning surfaces and floors.// We have a weekly deep cleaning schedule that will need to be maintained.Candidate AttributesThis job is very straightforward and quite rewarding. It requires someone who has a genuine desire to work, and is comfortable working, with our clients. Our staff work alone at each building and need to be able to work autonomously. This is a great job for a college student, a parent looking for part-time work, or someone with a small business looking to supplement their income. Reliability, compassion, and a solid sense of boundaries are imperative to being successful at this position. We are looking for someone with a solid work ethic who is a pleasure to be around.
